Ingredients:

  • ½ cup water
  • ¼ cup quinoa
  • 1 teaspoon olive oil
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1 large clove garlic, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon water
  • 1 (20 ounce) package ground turkey
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon hot pepper sauce
  • 1 ½ teaspoons salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Quinoa: In a small saucepan, bring ½ cup of water to a boil. Stir in the quinoa, reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer for about 15 minutes, or until quinoa is cooked and water is absorbed. Remove from heat and set aside.

  2. Sauté Aromatics: In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and garlic, and sauté until softened and fragrant, about 3-4 minutes. Remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.

  3. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a loaf pan with cooking spray or olive oil.

  4. Prepare Meatloaf Mixture: In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked quinoa, sautéed onion and garlic mixture, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and 1 teaspoon of water. Mix until well combined.

  5. Incorporate Ground Turkey: Add the ground turkey, egg, Worcestershire sauce, tomato paste, hot pepper sauce, salt, and black pepper to the bowl with the quinoa mixture. Using your hands or a spoon, mix until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  6. Shape and Bake: Transfer the meatloaf mixture into the prepared loaf pan, shaping it into a loaf shape. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes, or until the meatloaf is cooked through and golden brown on top.

  7. Rest and Serve: Remove the meatloaf from the oven and let it rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve slices of the Ground Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf with your favorite sides and enjoy the savory goodness!
